with Sherry Koyama

Saturday, August 2 at 1:30 PM on the deck
Sashiko

Learn the history and basics of Japanese sashiko stitching and apply it to embellish a tea towel.

Sashiko is a traditional Japanese running stitch used to mend and strengthen textiles and clothing, as well as creating decorative patterns.

You will learn how to work with sashiko needles and thread and sew a running stitch. Each student will take home a set of sashiko needles, thread, and tea towel. This workshop is for sewers of all levels, from beginners to experienced.

Sherry loves the simplicity, flexibility and meditative practice of sashiko and how it may be adapted to many applications. She enjoys sharing this with others!
